I know at least one petite women that likes both a 9mm Shield and a P365XL. I'd also suggest looking at a CZ P10S, it feels smaller than it really is.

My wife chose a Springfield XD9 after trying many options. The wider grip spread the recoil impulse and was most comfortable for her to shoot.

Wilshire gun rents guns as well, and my son has a P365 XL that feels pretty small grip wise in my hand compared to Glocks. Pistol shoots and points really well.

You could also consider the Taurus G2c, G3c, or G2s. The first two are double stack while the G2s is a single stack pistol.

Take her to the range, let her handle a few and then rent a couple for her to try out...

@druryj gave the best/least expensive advice ever. My wife carries the M&P shield, didn't like the compact, but also took my M&P Pro (another story) for OWB*.

*edit OWB around our land not in public/town.

My daughter @ 5.2" and 100 pounds loves shooting my Ruger Mark II. But my Glocks 17, 19 give her trouble. She gets lots of malfunctions. She has a hard time getting a good grip on the Glocks. I am going to keep working with her on the Glocks but looking for something else for her to try. Any suggestions?

Try experimenting with different double handed grips on the gun. Remind her that she has to hold it stiff and not limp wristed. That could possibly help with some of the malfunctions

Agree. A smaller 9mm is going to require even better grip fundamentals than a full-size handgun. I’ve been shooting mostly 22lr during my range sessions and even I get surprised by the difference in recoil when I switch to shooting my 9mm.
