Finally made it back from Austin. Went down for what we thought would be a one week job that lasted for three. Had both vehicle and data collection equipment problems, leading to us having to have another work van brought to us. Then, after the first van got fixed, the wife and I got to drive both of them back to Oklahoma.

Now, we wait for our assignment, possibly to Alabama to start with.

For a while on the cruise in 2002, I wondered why their tugs were so far forward of the barges. Then, I deduced that they did it that way so that the prop wash wasn't hitting the front of the barge, thus making transport much less efficient. Also, watching a tug in the harbor prior to departure from Vancouver allowed me to see the ingenuity of the tug operators in being able to turn a barge 180 degrees to load the other side. Those people know their boats.

Great day here on Grand lake. heading back the OKC tonight. Our grandson starts soccer tomorrow and we want to be there for his first game.
