Waurika and Waynoka Snake Hunts are this weekend. Waynoka also features Little Sahara most popular weekend as well.
Apache Snake Hunt is April 15-18.
Okeene and Mangum is April 23rd-25th.

I couldn't say which one is the most fun. I would probably go to Okeene or Apache because it is closer than Mangum.
Little Sahara is the one place I stay away from on the snake weekend.
It's insanely crowded, with the dune buggy ambulance constantly going in and out.
Went once, and done. I do go there on a regular basis though. Just not on that weekend.
For comparison, it would be like an indoor gun range you guys complain about with everyone's finger on the trigger, loaded, with everyone waving the gun all over the room and random gunshots going off in the range.
That's how bad it is.

I may go to one of the rattlesnake roundups this year- never been. Any opinion on which? I'm thinking either Okeene or Mangum.

Okeene is the only one I've ever been to, but it is also only about forty miles for me. Everybody should go at least once. I've been two or three or four times and, of course, ate some rattlesnake. Meh. No need to ever go back unless it's to take someone who's never been.

I'm thinking it will be a guys thing for us. I've never been and think the kids might enjoy it. I'll probably do Okeene for proximity and it sounds like it may be a little less swap meet-like than Mangum.

We took the kids to the one in Apache a few years ago and had a lot of fun.

Snakes really creep me out (I bury it deep down inside because I am grown and coach the kids on not losing their cool), but watching them process them for meat was really on a whole new level of creepiness.

Bassin that is awesome! Huge snake! I love snakes of all shapes and sizes poisonous ones included! They are amazing creatures....
We don't kill them at my farms or around my 3 acres at home...they always get a pass. I have been to almost all the rattlesnake ROUND UPS, I would say Mangum is the best one I have ever been to. I watched a grown ass man lay in a tub full of rattlesnakes... never seen anything like that, and they had every kind of food made of rattlesnake you could imagine.

80's here in S Ok but no one has put any snakes on FB yet. We have Rattlers and a bunch of aggressive cottonmouths. I hate snakes. If you see me killing one of your precious rat snakes, it was an accidental discharge....or discharges. Mistakes happen a lot around me and snakes.
