There's an extremely knowledgeable group on Facebook (I know, stop laughing) called Form 1 Basics. They also have a forum. Lots of great info available about building your own suppressor.
Ed Zachary!
Sincere questions... I have had experience with other's firearms over the years, and they have been happy with their equipment. I'm not against the idea, and may be in the market for one, but I want some current opinions from those of you that have them.
What caused you to want one in the first place, and is it worth the time and expense? Or, is it just another gimmick like we all jump into?
I would love to have one or three but besides the price of the suppressor I just can't make myself pay that dang $200 tax!
C'mon man! This is America! [emoji3]
If only all those gangsters of the prohibition era hadn't used them on their revolvers, we could still buy them in the local hardware store.I fought the notion of the $200 tax for years and finally put it behind me while waiting for the 6 month waiting period. Yeah it's not an official "waiting period", but that seems to be the minimum one has to wait to get a tube with baffles in it while one can get a lethal firearm in minutes.
The same suppressors we are paying $600 + for in the US are available for $150 on the shelf in Cape Town Africa, no paperwork required. If only all those gangsters of the prohibition era hadn't used them on their revolvers, we could still buy them in the local hardware store.
