We do need Red Flag laws, just no where near as far reaching as the Dimocrats are pushing for. Personally if a person's shrink knows they are dangerous and can prove it, that person should not be allowed firearms. The real problem is we closed most of the nut houses instead of spending the money to make them right, and can not longer deal with crazies as they need to be.

If the persons shrink is politically biased to the liberal side, (as some surely are)would you trust them to have your weapons taken for a simple diagnosis of depression which is common.
Using a shrink as a government informant is totally wrong and violates patient confidentiality.
This is the black hole of red flag laws.

Some of the shooters in the last decade have ADMITTED they were trying to inspire a political response...so whether they were sponsored or just lone wolf activists, many people are willing to die for their "cause". It is the same as the Islamists.

It could be that the uptick is because some of these scumbags know the best time to do this is when the dems are in charge so the barbaric activism wasn't in vain. And some are just nutjobs...LIBERALISM has caused the decline in morals and increase in crime, and then the people that are for personal responsibility and traditional values and law & order are blamed...they create the crisis by poisoning the environment (promoting fatherless families, etc., etc.) and then provide the solution to the problem they themselves created...it is pretty diabolical in my opinion.

"One of the foremost constitutional theorists of the founding generation, John Adams, observed, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”1 He wasn’t the only Founding Father to hold this view. Indeed, James Madison wrote that our Constitution requires “sufficient virtue among men for self-government,” otherwise, “nothing less than the chains of despotism can restrain them from destroying and devouring one another.”2 - https://ccta.regent.edu/2020/08/03/...on-designed-for-a-moral-and-religious-people/

Horrible and truly a massive coincidence in the number of shooting since January versus the previous 4 years. Cowardly for anyone to to something like this. I know better but I wish the media would not even mention his name. Of course we will hear more about gun control and things like magazine limits. The facts will be irrelevant. Patrick Sherrill, the cowardly POS that killed many at the Edmond post office used 2 1911's 45 ACP with 7 round magazines.
One of the victims of that was a family friend.

Rick I am completely on the other side of that statement, you are relying on a person(shrink) to be completely apolitical , unbiased and non-judgemental. Proof is done to something that has already happened everything else is just an opinion and unprovable in most cases unless you have historical evidence and the the laws in place already have that covered!!

Plus, if shrinks and doctors start 'flagging' patients, how many people won't seek help that otherwise would have.

I still don't buy it. It doesn't seem that most of these folks had a "cause". At least one that any of their family or friends were aware of. The common thread seems to be mental issues, or mad at their employer, etc.

I think there is something else going on.
I also absolutely believe something else is going on.
The country was headed in the right direction the last 4 years.
Then covid hit. covid has people on the battle lines against each other. Mask, no mask. vac, no vac on top of loss of job revenue because of the lockdown and further restrictions for those not deemed essential.
On top of that this administration is dumping far left progressive programs on the population that don't want them in massive dumps.
People are frustrated, and don't know how to stop this insanity.
About 14 mass shootings in the first 100 days of bidens reign of terror so far.
We constantly see that the shooters are not far right Trump supporters or it wasn't an AR so the media drops it quickly but the numbers of dead and the weapon involved are added to the national get rid of guns narrative the libs have. They never disclose that any of the shooters were dimocrats. Just another mass shooting.
There is a medical reason that there "might" be copy cats that are snapping in this crazy world of "woke" politics exacerbated by the glorification of the guilty in the media. When one of these shooting happen and the name become public, the media use that name non stop, forever, non stop. Others suffering depression and other mental disorders want the fame and glory.
Should there be legislation to prevent this? It's a great idea, but the 1st amendment and freedom of the press comes into play so that can't happen.
What could happen is that the media outlets agree it's bad as a service to the country and is the cause of copycat crimes, therefor refusing to release the names of the shooters, but as we all know the media is too politicized to do that.
Never gonna happen so get ready for a lot more shootings like this while the dims erode our 2A.
Yes, there is something else going on.

There have been many cases of shrinks knowing someone was violent from past behavior including animal mutilations, attacks on other people including family, but not enough to get them locked up. Instead they just keep escalating.

My late uncle was a case in point. He should have been locked up in a mental ward for the rest of his life but there just was not enough evidence without his shrinks reporting it. Because of this I know he bought a few guns. One of which suddenly disappeared with him claiming he never had it. One time he also claimed he had something to do with 2 girls disappearing from the state fair, and I believed him. He was that crazy. Tried to kill his own father, my father and once he tried to push me off the peak of the 2rd floor roof when I was replacing the shingles.

Define animal mutilations.
Skinning a rabbit or a deer after shooting them? There are certainly shrinks out there that would call that "mutilation" because of their personal beliefs being an anti-hunter or whatever they want to call it.
Rip a hunters guns away because of that?
We can't let a single person that thinks they are superior in their mindset like a shrink make decisions that would be legally binding against us.
Not even a panel of shrinks when the panel could be politically or socially biased against our hobby's with politicians making the decision who would be on that panel which is exactly what would happen.
That can't happen, no way, no shape, no form.

If he tried to push you off the roof ,that is evidence as is his saying he did something. different deal that some shrink somewhere saying in their personal opinion...... In this country you are innocent until proven guilty, mostly, as politics and money can skew that unfortunately. Giving someone the ability to take away your rights is just putting to much power in someone who has zero evidence to "prove" the opinion. Will that cause harm ..... sometimes but it will be abused way to much do to ideology.............
