Here is my first refinishing attempt! I eventually want to do an old Ithaca Model 37 I have but it has checkering on the grip so I'm not sure how to do that yet... but as far as for practice I went with an old single shot 20gauge I'm not even sure what the make is. I sanded it down to the wood and then started adding layers of truoil and this is what I got....

Not a firearm but a start in the right direction. Picked up some old Sten mags and decided to try my hand at bead blasting them and Parkerizeing them. Here is a pic of one that is refinished and one that is not. What do you think?

Don't have before pics but started as a stock Rock Island Armory Tactical Model 1911 (which had a great finish by the way), just wanted a two tone. This was a great project gun and a tack driver out of the box with no mods. Can't beat them for the money in my opinion (Yea I own a Kimber also :) ) The grips turned out okay but wish I had a smooth texture so the engraving showed up better. I did this almost a year ago but just found the pics.

I just started coating some AR parts with Alumahyde II. So far I'm not impressed. Its been curing inside for about a week, and it flecks off by just hitting it with my fingernail.
