Try to be a little less appalled and read...I support their work, but happen to disagree with the practice of orchestrated gatherings. That's far from being a naysayer or anti-open carry. It's a discussion/polite disagreement about methods.

The idea for an Oklahoma group started because other states have the same type of organizations. Since it works out well in those states, the founders decided to give it a try here. Just like with open carry, there will be those who disagree with our practices as is their right, but the end goal for these events is education not show of force, in your face, look at us. Most people who see us wouldn't even notice a firearm on someone hip because they are not looking for it.

If you plan to do community events for the good of the community then I support your effort. My only question is have you done these same community events for no reason other then to pick up litter in an area to make it a better place? If you are doing things for the good of your groups personal agenda and only thinking of excuses to get a group of people open carrying in one area then I don't support that because you are using the event as a means to promote yourselves and not for the good of the intended event.

I can not tell you we have done these things in the past as the organization is less that a month old. However I can tell you that we will be planning some of these events prior to Nov 1 with people carrying empty holsters. Will we be able to be everywhere in the state before Nov 1, no, but we will be in some places.

As I have said the goal is public education

Funny... Been in the Denver metro and a across Kansas

No one here has said any thing about me " packing" in "their" towns.

Some people in Oklahoma vote Republican and talk Libertarian ... But won't stand up. Patriots? No. Windbags, yes.

I support the objectives. We must advance. We can move our cause forward by simply repeating what others have done to promote a different cause. If we give our time to help somewhere, we will have REALLY helped. I guess it is community service, "disguised as community service". Open carry must be associated with more positive news reports than negative ones.

There are tons of good causes we can offer to assist. If they refuse, they can be contacted again with some fund raising numbers from other events. Put their fears of open carry/2nd amendment against their desire to raise money for the cause and see if they continue to say "No" conservatives allowed.

If you would rather little kids go hungry than assist with the advancing of open carry, that is fine. Just don't take food away from a food drive others orchestrate because your world view is "what goes on in my waistband is no one else's business".

When a food bank refuses to take a 16ft trailer load of food because it was gathered up by a bunch of conservatives, who will look like the close minded neanderthal when it is reported in the media?

Why an empty holster unless you are just trying to draw attention to yourself?

As someone who plans to OC sometimes I'd like the community to think I DON'T want to talk about my gun or debate with them. I just want to be left alone.

The more your organization does things to draw attention to yourselves the more of an impression you are going to leave that EVERYONE who OC is just looking for attention and is looking to "educate" the public.

If they don't know by Nov. 1 that open carry will be legal then they are living under a rock. Some who know the law will still call 911 just because it's their passive aggressive way to rebel against it.

As far as educating the public, it's like trying to teach a pig to sing. It will just be a waste of your time and it annoys the pig.
