My hot water heater sounds like it has been running for the past few days without end. I don't see a leak anywhere and am scared to see what my next water bill may be. Anyone know what the problem might be?

If you have no obvious signs of leakage I would go read my water meter. Look at it again in 24 hours and calculate usage. Look at last month's bill and figure your daily usage. Compare the two to see if you have any significant differences. Crude but effective.

the majority of ur water meters has a leak indicator on them it is a red or black triangle next to the readout on the meter with all ur water turn off at all the facuets u can look at ur meter and if the triangle is moving then u have a leak somewheres if it isnt moving then no leak, this is of course taking ur on some kind of water sourse that has a meter if on a well listen to the pump if it is coming on and off with no water usage then u have a leak.

If you have scalding hot water it could possibly be a thermostat stuck closed and the pop-off valve continually relieving the pressure.

Of course this would depend if it is gas or electric.
