I've bought a dozen new guns in the past five years and watched many of my elderly neighbors pass away. Country people own guns. When they die, there goes another gun owning house hold.

I don't know about the survey, but if you were a leftist organization that considered gun ownership a problem, how would it benefit you to under-estimate the extent of that problem? Why would they manipulate data to show that the problem is easing off, that it's less significant than it was a few years ago?

To validate their position that most Americans support fewer guns in the hands of citizens and that the increase in gun sales is attributed to the minority gun nuts.

I was out this weekend shooting my new Savage LRP. Walking out of the range I saw a 1903a4 for sale. I bought it. My gun ownership is up 5 rifles last year and up by 3 this year, so far.

Off the topic, but I hope you'll post a new thread about this!

I think the more interesting point is they have no idea who has guns in the house and that drives some of them crazy. Any secondary gun sale, except for those being shipped, is not recorded. If we use their 40% number, which they have no way of calculating, then they don't have any idea where almost half the guns go. A parent gives a gun to a their grown children for home defense, not recorded. Someone dies and their guns are passed on, mostly not recorded. There are a million different scenarios where a new gun owner gets a gun that is not recorder anywhere.

I suspect that this report, like many of the BS reports and polls we read about, was based on asking either a couple hundred or a couple thousand people. There is no way you can take numbers taken from such a small pool and apply them to the country as a whole. That is why most polls BS anyway, they are just tools for a particular group to push whatever agenda they support.
