This isnt just a review a reveiw of the rifle and build, but also of various parts of the rifle in the hopes That I might answer questions someone might have on their builds. So, lets begin with the build spec.

Anderson lower/upper
magpul MOE grip and MOE rifle stock
RRA trigger with J&P lightened springs
BCM gunfighter charging handle
Samson evolution 15 inch keymod free float handguard
yankee hill low profile gas block
Bison armory 18 inch stainless steel medium contore barrel with a rifle length gas port
Bison armory bolt
DPMS bot carrier group
Silencerco TRIAD flash hider
Centerpoint 1x4 scope/mount.
RRA lower parts kit
Generic buffer spring, Tube, and buffer.
C-products 25 round magazines (x4)

I chose all the parts (except for scope) with functionality in mind, not really price or "thats really cool looking" factor. The use of the scope required the use of the extended the charging handle.

The magpul grip has always fit my hand well, so that was a no brainer, and I wanted a fixed stock, non adjustable stock so that I would have a constant, repeatable cheek weld. The MOE rifle stock does just that, and is rock solid and adds just the right amount of weight to balance out The 18 inch barrel. It has a storage compartment in the reat thats vastly more accsesable than the standard A2 stock, as well as the ability mount a rail section at the bottom if one desired the use of a monopod. My only complaint is the length. The stock is a tad short for me, but magpul sells a rubber butt pad thats 1/2 an inch thicker, so I think that I will be making that purchase soon

The Samson EVO hand guard is very easy to install, using your existing barrel nut. It is A LOT lighter than it look, but once installed, the unit is rock solid. It does allow rapid cooling of the barrel, but after prolonged firing, you can tell that there is heat from the barrel.

The barrel and trigger is where a rifle is made, and while Im no trigger snob, the pull is a good deal lighter and crisper than a standard trigger. The J&P springs do a great job of bettering the stock RRA trigger. While its no drop in match type trigger, the springs were only $11 dollars from fatboy tactical. I also installed a set of KNS anti-walk trigger pins since I am going to be shooting this rifle suppressed.

Bison armory's specialty is 6.8, having even come out with their own take on 6.8 with a new load and barrel specifically for suppressor use. While I did not choose that particular barrel, I figured that they had more than enough experience with quality barrels and, more to the point, quality barrels is 6.8 to make their company my choice. I choose thier Stainless steel barrel, bead blasted and med conture with a rifle length gas system. And while I was at it, I figured I might as well get the matching bolt that they offered. The bolt was matched and go/no go checked at their factory ( or so the web site states). And since I am expecting a Silencerco SPECWAR 7.62 silencer, i had no choice but to go with the proprietary TRIAD QD flash suppresor/mount.

As for the optic, I had it available. Its a center point tactical 1x4 variable power scope with lighted reticle that I purchsed at academy about 2 years ago. It seem to be decently built, and works as advertised. I have no idea how the battery life is, how rugged it is, or how well it holds its zero. Then again, at $80, it did what its supposed to for this. I plan to aquire a vortex strike eagle 1x6 scope in the very near future ( Im a big fan of vortex products), so this scope will be replaced soon. Im sure this scope is fine as a stop gap measure until your able to upgrade.

An now for the shooting. I left my led sled at home (like a moron), so I mounted my caldwell bypod on the rifle and settled down to shoot. I had brought 4 mags worth of Hornaday 110 grain VMAX, and was hoping that getting it on paper wouldnt take too long. After not being able to get on paper at 100 yards, I was highly confused. So I moved to 50, and still no luck. I figured i would take the turret caps off, and what do you know, the scope shimmied like a fat stripper. Like an idiot, I had forgotton to tighten the scope past hand tight. So I got a wrench, cranked down the mount, and got it going. Finally, after about 10-15 rounds, I got it close, but I know that I, and this rifle, can do better. Bellow are pics of the shot groups. These are at 100 yards.

One word on the mags. Most of the mags I saw on the internet where anywhere between $30-$60 dollars. I found these 4 mags for a scant $10 each. I figured why the hell not. After I got the mags, I stripped them, wiped them down, and lubed the crap out of them with remoil. The last mag I saved just for you guys. I know that nothing is going to stop a mga/mag sring up like a hot rifle doing a mag dump. And at $22 dollars a box for the Hornadays, it was going to be an expensive mag dump. So, in the spirit of adeverture, I proceeded to rapidily squeeze the giggle switch. I am more than happy to report that during the firing of this rifle, not a single malfunction was experienced.

So in conclusion, this is a great rifle/cartridge combo with the potential to be very accurate, as well as hard hitting. The ammo is readliy available at bass pro, academy, and about every other gun store around ( even my walmart stocks 6.8). More and more fatory loads are coming out, and this cartridge will really excell for the hanloader ( which I plan to do). Im very pleased with my choices on this build, and with the out come. Just know that If you plan to build a 6.8, the bolt, barrel, and mags will have to sourced from the internet, as no local store I know of carried these parts, but there are more than a few vendors. Once I get My suppressor, I will let you all know how compatiable the two are. Thanks for reading.

As a side note, instead of a 5 round shoot group, I prefer 3 round shot groups. In the target photos, the rounds on the left and the one in the middle are when I finally got it right where I felt the scope needed to be. The one large hole is actually 3 rounds after I settled down, took my time and really concentrated on what I was doing.
