A 6'2" healthy man shoots and kills dog for biting him. Not sure I want to have that conversation with the police\DA.

You are god damn right it gets shot. That is a legitimate self-defense shoot. Cops do it all the time, so can you. Killing a dog is not something most people want to do, but when you have some snarling mongrel coming at you, there is not much choice. I had to do it a few months ago. I put one round in the ground about 6 inches from the dog and it took off. If it hadn't, I would have killed it with the next shot. not something I wanted to do.

Please remember that animal abuse is illegal and illegal activities are not allowed to be promoted here ... not even if it was meant as a bad joke ...[/QUOTE
I'm confused as to where the abuse is? The dog bit the man not the other way around. I don't even see a joke anywhere.

My mother-in-law got bit 2 times by the same dog near sw66 and may and no one did a thing and the owner said the same thing.
Consider yourself blessed that someone is following up on it.
For all that think this is not a scary situation to have a rabid animal chase you think again it is very scary and you can run 3x faster than you think, that
is if feet are all you have to split the scene.

Had it happen and went home and got a gun and back into the woods I went to find said mangy rabid animal (hairless chow).
Ended it's suffering and buried it real deep.

People who humanize animals tend to not understand what kind of damage a pet can inflict on a human and how quickly they can do it. I walk my dogs every morning. They are leashed but if another animal comes charging us I'm gonna have no problem explaining to the DA or anyone else why I thought I was afraid of great bodily harm, at the very least.

Scary is right. I was also wearing a heart rate monitor, and my HR jumped from about 160 to 180 as the dog was coming at me (I can see where I was on a map when my heart rate was at a certain level).

I forgot to say ... you might as well call the doc and get in for some antibiotics. Dogs and cats have notoriously nasty bugs in their mouths ... I've been bitten several times over the years and know others who have also. Weird social circle, I know ... lol ... trust me, just do it.
