You need to be sure to stand on your brakes for at least 100 yards before deploying the turn signal. That way you leave the person behind you wondering if you are stopping in the middle of the road of if some other problem has presented itself.

I recall reading driver manuals from the 80's that stated the same thing on distances ,, but this does not mean the law is in the books.

I think I would also want a law that states you need to merge onto the highway at the speed traffic is flowing.
I think California has a merge law.. as you will be ticketed for improper merge.

people just really need to learn to drive and pay attention.

But the last 8 years I have noticed much more vehicles low on blinker fluid.
Phone in hand steering wheel in other sorry can't use blinker..That is the issue I would bet.

I do not have a phone so I could be wrong.

On the news they were saying there wasn't a min in the law.
One of the other channels (either 9 or 25) reported that there wasn't a minimum in OKC's previous city ordinance on the issue, which is probably true.

Right, it is already in state law but the city wants to be able to ticket for it, and receive the revenue. Just like the texting and driving double dip.

C'mon, Guys. I don't see a problem with this. One of my pet peeves for years (and I've driven professionally) has been those dang drivers that only turn their blinker on AS THEY START TO TURN THE WHEEL for a turn. Maybe they are slowing down in front of you, but a fellow doesn't have any clue as to whether they are going to stop, turn left, or turn right. I'm all for dumb "turkeys" getting tickets for not using their signals in advance.

You ought to be up here in Colorado. Citizens of Colorado Springs do a U-turn right in the middle of a block.

As noted above... LEOs should be held to the same standard as the general public.
