Why would Glock or Smith need to make a bunch of engineering changes? Or Springfield for that matter? Their guns work. This new Ruger will sell in spite of itself. That is butt ugly. Like worse than the new Beretta ugly. Can we call it the Sanford series?

This gun is purpose built to meet the guidelines put out for the selection of the new service sidearm for the DOD.

F*ck that! Award it to Glock and be done with it.

I love it. Looks like an amazing pistol. I can't wait to sell my glocks and get a pile of them.

I'll buy your Glocks but in 2 weeks, when you realize your mistake, you'll be paying 20% more to get them back.

Springfield needs to make engineering changes anyways.

Lol. You know better than that. Ruger makes a nice .22 and that's about it.

Is it a requirement to turn Glocks or XDMs if you buy one?

Yes; it is a requirement, Sorry, but the goobermint said so. However, in keeping with my New Years Resolution to be more kind to my fellow man, and out of the goodness of my heart, those of you who wish buy one of these Ruger American Pistols will need to PM me for disposition instructions on any and all Glocks and XDMs. And for a limited time, I will be providing this service to OSA members at no charge!

Well I picked one up today! Going to have to get it to the range ! It looks well built its a bit heavier than some of my other 9mm pistols. I looked at the 45 also it's just a bit larger. If you want to look at one the only place I have seen them is at Atwoods here in B.A. They do have changable back straps. It fits my hand good trigger seems better than the SR 9 I use to have years ago. I haven't owned a Ruger in a few years and this All American is the only Ruger that has made me want to get one. I have reduced the amount of Glocks I have now because the just don't really fit my hands. But any ways I'll give an update when I go out to the range.

I am thrilled that Ruger is constantly making improvements and willing to innovate. I love Glock, but competition and variety is good for everyone. Please let us know how what you think after you shoot your new gun.
