I've been thinking some sanitized lowers might be handy to have around. I suppose its either the 80% route, or buy some ARs in anonymous private sales at gun shows, swap their lowers out for my existing ones, and sell them again.

Too much money for me but a local bought the $1500 CNC but hasn't received it yet.
Supposedly they're working on software for AR10 and 1911. With Glock and maybe others to follow, it prolly is only a jig/fixture, software and maybe cutter away from completing all of them.

1. They're not illegal to sell though many wouldn't want to buy one and it's possible (maybe probably) a FFL holder wouldn't want to process one.

2. There are aluminum 80% lowers and composite ones. The composite ones come with a jig you use only once and require a drill, a vise, a drill press vise and a drill press to complete. The aluminum ones are also completed with a jig that is reusable for multiple lowers. One type can be completed with a vise, a drill and a router though a drill press with a drill press vise makes it a little easier.

If you're going to the trouble, the aluminum ones are better but the cost is run up by the jig. You won't save money over a 100% lower but you'll have bragging rights.
