never ever had a problem with allergies but this year is killing me. Itchy swollen eyes and nose is stuffed like a thanksgiving turkey. Been putting up with it for 2 weeks now and ready to hit walgreens for a cure. What do you suggest OSA?

side note: I eat local raw honey every day already.

Claritin or Zyrtec*, generic is fine. Says once a day on the bottle, but I take mine twice daily or it seems to wear off about 18 hours or so.

Also triamcinolone nasal steroid spray (Nasacort) is over the counter now, though my son didn't have much luck from it. It's a pretty weak nasal steroid. Fluticasone (Flonase) is, as well, and is slightly stronger.

*I switch between these two every 3-4 months, helps keep from developing too much of a tolerance. I didn't have any nasal allergies until about 5 years ago. Sucks.

I didn't have any luck with Singulair, made no appreciable difference for me or my son.

I hate the "floaty head" feeling from allergy meds so I just put up with the symptoms, pretty much year round.

So I'm not alone. They've been waylaying me lately.

I never had allergies - at all - until I reached my mid 20s. They seem to get progressively worse every year.

Claritin and Zyrtec make me feel weird. I have dry mouth anyways, but it's terrible on those. I'm a full-on Flonase addict. That at least lets me breathe and keeps me from getting bronchitis and respiratory infections. I guess I'll just live with my eyes bitching like crazy.

Almost every person in my office over the last 2 weeks has been complaining of terrible allergies as well. Lots of adjusting sinuses and ears... Started a couple people on using a neti-pot with either saline or fresh brewed green-tea cooled <100F. Unpleasant, but effective (especially when it has progressed to sinus infection). I also recommend supplementation with proteolytic enzymes (taken without food) for systemic inflammation control. Adding a little NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) can help as well.

I've had intense allergies my entire life no matter where I've lived (OR, CO, ID, UT, CA, GA, WA) but after moving here 3 years ago I might have 1 bad day a year and that's it. Very grateful for that but can definitely empathize with those who are getting their butts kicked right now.

Claritin or Zyrtec.

Years ago I went to Okla Allergy and Asthma Clinic. Got tested and started taking weekly shots, has helped tremendously. Both my parents also got allergy shots. OAAC can help for severe allergies...
