How true! OSA has become the MODS forum. It's not about enforcement of rules, it's about shoving their opinions down members pie holes. It is sad and pathetic.
If so, that is sad...but again I've been away for far too long to form an opinion.
I will say this.....
Back when we started there would be, from time to time, allegations to that effect and they mostly just were not true.
Sometimes you'd get a person that would like to attach an opinion directly to a rule breaking post and try to sell it as that.
It's ludicrous to attempt to take shots at a mod when you are in violation of the rules....which you probably didnt even bother to read or can't comprehend.
(the general you, not personal)
I know there were some incidents where that was exactly the case....or there was far more to it than the general public got to actually see.
That said, I've had strong opinions in opposition to particular people holding mod positions, mostly based on the fact that while I might agree and respect their opinions I knew that they simply weren't cut out for the job for various reasons.

Having retired my position as super mod-in-chief long ago, I don't have much say in the way things are run here anymore.
Frankly I haven't even visited in a long, long time.....the last time I visited, JB had taken over OSA feom Kelly.
I only realized in the last few days that he was no longer the proprietor.
I'll offer my opinion of the classifieds issue anyway....
I personally believe it is NOT a good thing to allow wide open classified sections for several reasons.
Aside from the fact you get bots selling Viagra, you wind up with an inherently less secure market in regards to both buyer and seller confidence.....and many random sellers who may or may not be reputable, continually bumping items or what seems tantamount to spam postings. It just happens.
The way I ran it was based on years of buying/selling on forums and having experienced the frustration and shortcoming therein.
With things like these you have to have an admin who agrees as well as plenty of people on the same page who are available to manage the issues.
Obviously I have been way out of touch with the board so I cant say all too much about the "community" as such.
I'd have to spend a little more time here to get a sense of that.

I have no knowledge of any of the"upheaval" events, ect....I'm barely even touching the tip of the iceberg in getting caught up with contacting my estranged friends here, lol.
I mean, I don't wanna tell someone how to run their forum unless they ask, but I think there ARE things as I've mentioned above that are just generally conducive to keeping a good classifieds section which is preferred by members.
Advertising and things of that nature may very well be a necessary evil, dunno....but sponsors, ads, etc. can be a real chore at times.

Well welcome back to the new OSA. We're gettin' somewhere; I don't know where yet but were damned sure gonna get there.

I agree with you (and others who have addressed this) that there should be some kind of reasonable threshold before one can advertise in the classifieds. I think when I came on board the number was 25 "substantive" posts (not "me too" or "bump"). I realize that the number is arbitrary but it at least would force the casual one-and-done member to lose interest and go away. I would like to see that policy returned.

As would I. Once the FarceBook gun selling pages were taken down, you've got loads of people with 2, 3, or 4 posts to their screen name, and all of them are advertising something to sell. Many of these are refugees from those old FarceBook pages, and anybody who had much dealing with those cats knows there are some shady characters out there.

Did you have a Fast Action Response Team?
Indeed, I did (have you and I met?). While I was not a Green Beret (well, neither were you), I did have to face unruly shoppers nearly every day. It helped being a Master of three martial arts, including Ninjitsu, which means that I got to wear the special boots for climbing walls (with apologies to Gecko45, where ever he be).

Didn't he do the beta testing on those spider boots?
