What do I want? I'll tell you. I want a president that will admit what happened. Will actual investigate what happened. And will, to the best of his ability, punish the offenders.

What we got was a president that will not only not admit what happened, wants to claim there were 3 million illegal votes causing him to lose the popular vote, as if that matters. We got a president that will not only not investigate, but is insisting there is nothing to investigate and, as we know now, firing anyone that will not toe the party line. And instead of punishing the offender, he's stroking up the flames of his bromance with him.

Got that? I doubt it.

That's what a lot of people wanted Obama to do with Hillary but it didn't happen. That's what I wanted too. I can't speak for the rest of the Trump supporters here, but I don't think the Russia investigation is over because Comey is gone.

Well, the White House did say, today, "We want this (the Russian investigation) to come to its conclusion". But, I have no doubt that democrats in the House will investigate the s**t out of this thing. This is going to be one tenderized horse when it's all said and done.

Thursday Short Cuts

Leftist contradictions, part I:
“I do not necessarily support the president’s decision. … I think if the president … had fired [James Comey] when he first came in, he would not have to be in a position now where he is trying to make up a story about why. It does not meet the smell test.” —Maxine Waters

“If [Hillary Clinton] had won the White House, I believe that given what [Comey] did to her, and what he tried to do, she should have fired him.” —Maxine Waters

Leftist contradictions, part II:

“What must happen now is that [Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein] appoints a special prosecutor to oversee this investigation.” —Chuck Schumer Wednesday morning

“There are three things that our caucus agreed must happen right away. First, Mr. Rosenstein should not be the one to appoint a special prosecutor.” —Chuck Schumer Wednesday afternoon

Bonus:
And last… “Trump would’ve gotten less ‘cover-up!’ coverage if he instead deleted subpoenaed docs, used BleachBit, then destroyed phones with a hammer.” —Twitter satirist @hale_razor

Trump cancels FBI visit...

On Thursday after President Donald Trump gave an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt in which he trashed former FBI Director James Comey — calling Comey a “grandstander” and a “showboat” — the White House announced that Trump’s planned visit to FBI Headquarters has been canceled.

MSNBC’s Peter Alexander was doing a live appearance from the White House when news came in on his phone that the president has canceled his visit, which he intended as a goodwill mission in the wake of dismissing Comey.

“The FBI told the White House the optics would not be good,” Alexander said. “FBI officials apparently said the president was unlikely to be greeted warmly after having just unceremoniously fired a very popular director.”

So either the FBI is a Federal Service Organization or they are not. All of them serve at the pleasure of the President, just as all our Armed Forces do as well. Who gives a **** if they do not want him there, it is his building, his people and his prerogative. Operating under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI is concurrently a member of the U.S. Intelligence Community and reports to both the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence. I fail to see why their opinions matter as to the Presidents visit or lack there of. If they want to be independent contractors, Triple Canopy is hiring. Retirement benefits and working conditions are not as plush though.

His building and his people?

The building belongs to the taxpayers and the FBI works for the citizens of the US.

We're not Venezuala, yet.

An awful lot of federal employees are covered by various Civil Service laws specifically to protect them from the whims of the political class. I'd be surprised if the rank-and-file of the FBI didn't enjoy some protection.
