I finally got a scheduled date...not the 20th but the 23rd...finally.

I'm really hoping that a nasal mask works for me and I can learn to keep my mouth closed...I do not want to shave my goatee.

They make a chin strap to aid in keeping your mouth shut. I used one until I trained myself.

I use the full face for the most part. i have gone back to the nasal mask but it's a whole new thing to get used to. I'm trying to get used to the smaller stuff for traveling.

i haven't been active on this forum for over a year, but got a new computer and decided to do some reading. This has been pretty eye opening. I deal with a lot of the same issues. Wife wakes me up several times a night, saying I quit breathing, I'm generally tired constantly, no matter how much sleep. I also sleep very deeply, and didn't realize I was having an issue. I think I'll put in a call to the Dr tomorrow. For you guys with beards, how does that work? I haven't been without a beard since I was 16 years old, and not sure how I could go without it. My kids and wife have never seen me without one.

Beards are no problem with nasal pillow type "masks"....they are quite minimal in "footprint". There are other mask types that are also compatible.

I use the nasal pillow type, and use a chin strap. I have tried a few different styles and after a little over two years, I haven't found one I totally love. But having the cpap has made a significant improvement in my life.
