50 is not nearly as old as I used to think before i passed it. 
A real friend would have "manned up" and driven him the hospital.
He was fine and told me he is just out of shape because of his laid back job.
I will be taking my wife if I need a hunt partner now.
I took her a couple years ago and she was fine.
She does not like the heavy leafs and thought of snakes but other than that she is good to go.

Not taking up for your friend, but i had almost the same thing happen to Me.
Im 54. My firend and I were carrying a Fridge up 3 flights of stairs as we did about 3-4 times a week at work.
Hes 44. Got about half way up and couldnt catch my breath and had to stop. This happened about 4 times and then i had to wait about 5mins to walk back down. Ole 44 was On Me

Anyway after a trip to the Doc,
Was admitted into the Hospital for being severely enemic. Doc said i was functioning on 1/2 my Blood.
They gave Me 4units of blood, then found a Tumor in my colon that had been slightly bleeding for maybe 3-5yrs.
I never knew. Felt like an Idiot Tho!!!
