Sat on a field looking for a doe this morning, nothin'. Moved back in the woods at 9:30 and started seeing deer at 1:00. Doe with twins feeding on acorns on the neighbor's place. I had to leave at 1:30, of course. Snuck out with them then. This is a bow stand on a trail leading off the neighbors on to our place so I wish I could have stuck it out.

RE: fawns I saw the smallest fawn I've ever seen in hunting season the other day. Guess that's a sign all our does aren't getting bred in November. Or it was a dwarf. I doubt it weighed 20lbs.

My sit was unproductive but my daughter took one this evening. 225 yds. She really loves that stand and my rifle. Double lung and she watched him fall on the field edge.

Time to change it up...

It seems the deer movement has changed so I am trying something they wouldn't expect. Instead of sitting in one of my stands, I decided to sit on my turkey hunting stool on top of an old loafing shed. I can see everything for 400 yds to my left, sporadic breaks in the creek bottom in front of me, and 200 yds to my right. This big elm has low branches resting on the rooftop, so it makes a pretty decent blind. I don't know if this is the right move or not, but you won't know if you never try.

Killed many deer from the hayloft of the barn my grandpa built. 2 bales of straw in front of the door and a lawn chair behind. Sadly, its down on the ground now.
