This isn't far off from off from the increasing amount of fraudulent lives being spent on social security disability. One of my best buds is on it 80%. Helps pay for his dirt bike trips.

She still votes as Dimocrat though I am sure.

Actually in Oklahoma, at least in Ponca City the funeral director takes care of removing those deceased from the voting rolls. When my parents passed, he said that would be part of their service. I double checked before the next election and they were both removed. Dad was 12 years before Mom, both registered dimocrats. Never understood their reasonings for belonging to that party.

Interesting - I knew they were required to report to Social Security but never heard of one doing the voting roll removal.

As to your folks D registration, all I have is 2 things that were key in their lives: FDR & the Depression...both of which should have led to a different registration decision, IMO.

I would add that D Party is nothing like it was 30 years ago, let alone during the FDR years. And that's especially true in Oklahoma. Actually, about 25 years ago is when it shifted, and Oklahoma went from dark blue to red almost overnight. You could see it in Wes Watkins's party affiliations; in consecutive elections, he was elected to the House as a D, then an I, then an R ('92, '94, and '96, if memory serves).

As President Reagan said, I didn't abandon the Democratic Party, they abandoned me.

Further back than just 25 or 30 years ago. Check out the link within the comment in the link below. Oklahoma's record for voting Republican started after LBJ.

The Oklahoma delegation to the House in 1992 was four Democrats and two Republicans. By 1998, it was all Republican. From 1971 to 1994, Oklahoma had one Republican Governor (Henry Bellmon); if it hadn't been for conservatives splitting the vote between Largent and Richardson, it's entirely possible that we wouldn't have had anything but Republican governors since.

The tide may have started with LBJ, but it turned in 1994.

I'm not here to defend the policy but $100,000 / YR is not outrageous when one considers the cost of housing in Warren RI . This same house in OKC or Tulsa would cost about $150-$180K depending on the neighborhood.

The 2019 Property Taxes were $10,800.

Many places on the East and West Coasts have extremely high cost of living so a salary in Oklahoma can not be compared directly to those places.

Politicians have gotten smarter. They figured out how to manipulate voters with single issues. Gay marriage, health care, immigration, etc... Just about the only guy that actively lost an election that was his in this century was McCain when he chose a terrible running mate.

They latch on to a single issue and let the MSM tell people that issue is far more important than it is. The people eat it up.
