Anyone know someone looking to sell any Olympic style weights at a fair price? My son powerlifts for his high school and hasn’t been able to lift in a month. He’s going to lose his gains. We were going to buy a set for the house but they’re sold out everywhere now. I guess we snoozed too long on the weight purchase.

So, my son is a Junior in HS and plays football. He's a the starting center and one of the biggest and strongest on the team. He loves to lift and he loves football. Couple of things you can do. Our coaches allowed many of the players to come to the weight room and check out equipment and bring to their homes to work out. Bars, plates, benches, etc. Check if that is possible.

The other thing I would recommend is that if your son is serious about lifting you can always buy him a complete setup. Check with Rogue Fitness. THey are an industry leader and make great stuff. They are sold out of a lot of gear but I would check their website, write down what you would want and call them direct to check what they may have in stock if your exact items are not. May be other similar products available. Shipping to OK can be cheap and somewhat fast. Even if the wait is several weeks he many not be back in the scill weight room for months. We did that for my son about 1.5 years ago as a supplement to, what was at the time, a chitty and dilapidated weight room and equipment. It got used occasionally by him and some friends but I used it a lot. Ended up spending about $2K on the everything. Turns out since he has been out of school for a month now and are distance learning until mid June when school is out the equipment is absolutely worth every penny I spent on it. It was his birthday present at the time and once he gets out of college he can put it at his place or whatever. I use it a lot too.

I got him the Rogue Bravo CrossFit Package along with an S-1 squat stand, adjustable bench, Wood plyo box, full set of dumbells, plate tree, curl bar and I bought for me a Concept 2 rower. Since he is so big now we had to get an additional 145#s in bumper plates from the school on loan until summer football starts back up.

This is the basic package and then I added to it.

Me and my 16 year old. I still have him sort of mostly convinced I can take him if need be.

Him and his boys doing some work in the garage gym. Its crowed in there but he gets in a great workout. Saw a great quote on twitter from the Idaho Vandals football program. "The 2020 football season will be a true indicator of what you did when nobody was watching"

have you checked online stuff? Rogue can’t be out of stock and titan fitness is also a cheaper alternative.
whats lifts does he do?
Yes they can. Most stuff has been out for weeks. Try buying a dumbell set right now! Prices have exploded and everything’s OoS. You have to buy super premium or get lucky.

There are no weight plates available online anywhere. I’ll need at least 300 pounds for him to get a decent workout (squats/deadlifts). I was in front of the curve on just about everything when the apocalypse began but this weight thing snuck up on me.

That’s a big boy you got there. All the major companies are out. Most say they’ll have more in mid May. I’ll keep looking though.

That sure is one big ol' boy there...Sorry @Parks 788, but if you two were to engage in some sort of fisticuffs, I'd have to put my money on the young 'un. Seriously, you can see that you two have a pretty good relationship; good luck with finding what you're looking for. Sounds like you have him on the right path.

Have you tried Dick's Sporting Goods? Surely they put some other inventory items in the store when they got rid of those evil firearms...

Sorry, I'm just being a jack wagon. Don't know much about weight lifting.

The week that they went curbside, pretty much all of their weightlifting stock sold out. I had to go to three different locations to pick up my orders.

How far you willing to travel? DFW, KC areas?

I'd really have your kid get the email/cell# for the lifting and football coaches and ask them if you can borrow/check out a full set of weights and maybe even a rack, dependent on what they use. Make a $300 donation to the football or lifting boosters when picking up the weights.
