I just love this gun. Lever actions just have a feel and if you grew up around those and bolt actions, you know the natural feel they have.
No one would pay me a nickle for my opinion (but if someone will....good to know I'm for sale....Ha) but Marlin has either got their act back together or I'm just lucky getting a great one. Either way I'm super hyped on my 336 and when the smoke clears, I'll be adding a 45/70 in SS to round it all out. Would be nice to add that to my Henry Big Boy Golden boy (357 or 38 sp). I have to admit I like shooting the Marlin more than the Henry.
I would also like to say a few words of praise for ranger point precision. They are top shelf and plan on redoing a few things on my Marlin using RPP products. (Not getting paid for saying that either......)
Hate to bore you but I'm stuck in bed for a few days and I like you folks. Everyone here has been so cool when I probably didn't deserve it. Anyway, this is fun for me and here are the things I plan to do in no particular order using all RPP stuff.
1. Replace trigger with a wider version that takes up the flop and adjustable to 1.5 lbs. (the range with the rpp is 2.5 to 1.5 and the factory is not bad at 3.5. 2. Replace lever action with the next size up and not the large loop. More room for you fingers if shooting with a glove but not so big that your fingers have to flop to cock. (Poet kinda). 3. Quick detach screw fro the lever. These are so cool and a huge time saver in cleaning or repairs. 4. M-lock forend. Not out yet but look them up and see Very nice. I have a Leopold scope on her now but may try a green dot holosum. I am very sold on the Holosum I bought for my FN FNX 45 tactical. That is a great sight and green my eyes love in bright sun or twilight.
Anyway, that was fun sharing. Hope someone enjoys my rambling.
Have a great day
