Probably true but the uniformed guards do. One Feb morning in the drizzling rain I went off on some jacka$$ occupy dudes just outside the fence of the South Lawn. Once they saw me dressing the idiots down all by myself at 0200 they smiled, gave me that same look a dad gives their kiddo when a little brother needs a good smack down and got back in their cruiser.
That's where the First Amendment has its limits. It says, "... the right of the people peaceably to assemble, ...". 'Peaceably' is a limiting factor. If you go outside the bounds of 'peaceably,' the First Amendment does not protect you. Anyone who cannot read and understand that is as much a danger to society as an invading army. The job of invading armies, etc., is to kill people and break things. Rioters kill people and break things. Armies will plunder. Rioters plunder.
If a person cannot make it in this country with the guaranteed freedoms and limitless opportunities available, I bid them go out from among us. We have no duty to be cow tailing to them, no duty to support them, no duty to surrender our rights and freedoms to them, and they have no right to be respected. They have a right to speak but no right to be heard.
Being a nuisance is not being peaceable.

That is truly a sad story. My son lived up there for nearly four years. Interesting that you can be standing at an awe-inspiring building, in a truly beautiful area near the Capitol, and look up to the hills of apartment dwellings outside the loop and know the frontier is that close. A shame really.
I have a Grandson living and working in DC. Works from his Apt. most of the time, hates getting out in the mess. I think he is getting tired of it after growing up in Oklahoma.
Probably be like the Area 51 siege. Never will happen.
