Of y'all are ever in Ponca City, try the head country bbq, or whatever it's called now. Good bbq, skip the hot links. They're an abomination not worthy of the name... but the chopped beef is second to none.

My Dad's rule of thumb is that if they have smoked bologna on the menu, most likely the place has some really good BBQ. Been pretty spot on in my opinion.

Ray's BBQ in Moore & Norman is a great BBQ joint (in my opinion). If you're more into 'upscale BBQ' (yeah, kind of a weird mixture), Clark Crew BBQ on NW Highway fits the bill. If you just want 'down and dirty' great BBQ, George's Happy Hog is the place to go.

All of this is just my opinion for the OKC metro area.

Rays BBQ is good and haven't been to George's in ages(since I worked at the Capitol) but it was good. Butchers BBQ was good but a long drive and won't go back. Heard they are indoors now...My ribs and brisket are pretty darn good I've been told. Also, at Thanksgiving I always smoked the turkey.

Trails End in Wynnewood is pretty good, but the absolute best is Smokin Joes in Davis. Smokin Joes also has a landing strip for you pilots and I believe they also have a location in Rush Springs.

Called Danny’s place now after multiple time Grand National BBQ champion Danny Head sold the Head Country BBQ sauce business so he could retire. They know how to cook ribs!

i disagree van's is much better and the owner is a member here
Have you actually tried Robb's?

IMO it is not only the best in Shawnee, by far,(and I haven't tried them all yet) but it is the best I've had in this state.

It isn't a fancy place or been around as long as Van's but it is very good bbq. He doesn't have a fryer so there's no french fries or fried okra, but I can get by with tater salad and baked beans if I want a side to go with my ribs or brisket.
