Can someone explain the dynamic around why it is a generally Republican thing to do stuff with and for Israel? I'm not trying to stir up some antisemitism or anything. I just flat out don't understand because I grew up in OK and literally never interacted with any Jewish people during the first.. 30? years of my life, and then I saw some Jewish people at the grocery store one day and that was that.

I get that we have strategic allies overseas, but Israel is pretty small, so I don't really understand what they offer in the relationship.

Used to be the Left was enamored with Israel. Then the Protestants and Baptists got indoctrinated with the idea that 1948 Israel and the current occupiers are actually a rebirth of Old Testament prophecy. The Christians, particularly Southern Baptists and Assembly folks are typically hardcore conservatives. So, when you run for office in the South, you run conservative, and as a friend of Israel. Of course Israel pays for freshmen congressmen to visit Israel and get some Israeli hospitality, so that strengthens the bond.

Check out AIPAC, and some fun facts here:

Check out CUFI:

And of course Jerry Falwell (the late) - Israel bankrolled him for years, and he spent his time cheerleading Israel through his ministry.

And, why does it seem like a majority of Jewish people are Democrats?

Because they're mostly secular or Reform Temple. They identify as Jews, but they disagree with certain policies of the Likud government. They also look at their own history as Jews, and compare it to what the nation state of Israel is doing in Gaza and the west bank. It looks a lot like a pogrom.
Those American Jews are an obsessively moral and mixed up people.
They also care about right and wrong more than they care about their taxes, which defies the stereotype.

I can't speak for anyone buy myself, but the main reason I am in support of Israel is two-fold. We basically worship the same God and Israel is the best example of a democracy in that area.
I thought you believed that even most people who call themselves Christians don't even "properly" worship HIM. Something about baptism?
You love them and I love them, but a lot of good people gonna go to hell.

You don't "basically worship the same God", Judaism does not believe in Jesus the son of God. And Christianity teaches that if you don't believe in Jesus you are going to hell.
