From what I've seen in New Mexico and in Oklahoma, most of the residents have plenty of reserves to fall back on for a good while. A calorie deficit might even reduce the diabetes rates.
The calorie starvation could save insurance companies many millions of dollars down the road. Stock-up on pop tarts while there's still time.

I bet the governor is a Democrat. They are the only political types stupid enough to be thinking they are keeping people safe by making them stand outside for up to 2 hours during the winter.

Maybe a little of both. I'm not convinced that people are starving because the Walmart in Albuquerque is closed for a couple of weeks. I may be wrong, and I'm not saying that I'm unequivocally hand-on-the-Bible right. I'm just posting on OSA.

Whether people are starving or not, isn't the issue.

I guess the issue is whether or not the government can temporarily close hot spots. I'm pretty sure Walmart can take that small hit.

Not worried about Walmart's sales either.

"Hot spots" in the cookware isle at Walmart..... over a ~99% survival rate.
