Have a few Cinammon/reddish coyotes around here... seen serval Elk off base just NE of Lawton. Think the FT. Sill heard has grown out beyond the base.
We have some almost pure black yotes in se OK. Have seen some reddish ones up north.
My family still has land out in Texas county and the guy that farms it has reported elk on our land. I’ve seen Picts of kills in that area.
Coyotes can have different hair colors just like humans. Some blond and some with a reddish tint. It's all genetics. Okla has eastern coyotes as well as western coyotes. Short hair vs long hair. We are right on the border of both.
We did have one elk killed in Osage County prior to the new regulations. Ranchers son poached it and carried it around in his truck for a few days showing it off. All of the high fence elk ranches were not missing any animals and the Woolaroc museum herd was intact as well. It had to have wandered down the Arkansas river or something.
I can't remember how many thousands of dollars it cost him in fines and had to pay restitution for another elk.
