Thanks for the reply, Springfield produced probably the most garands & spare parts the post Korean war being some of the best built.

There is a wealth of information on the Garand on the CMP forum linked in a prior reply & milsurps forum with photos of various builds and help for operating problems if you experience any from the experts on these forums. They are always gracious to offer their help / advice.

I shoot primarily HXP as is has been, before this latest ammo blight, readily available.

Again, enjoy your garand as owning and shooting them can be addictive.

a couple bit of info 1. commercial hunting ammo can mess up the op-rod as the burn rate is not right and develope's the wrong pressure.
2. the op-rod is "supposed to be bent" don't try to straighten it.
