Here Is an easy one if you are old enough.....do you know what a "party line" is? Did you have one?
Yes. Shared on with my grandparents who lived up the road.
You always see in the movies how everybody was trying to listen in. If my parents had caught us trying to listen in to the old folks, we would have been eating off the mantle.

At 10pm, the news came on and I had to go to bed. The only exception to that is if somebody awesome was gonna be on with Johnny, then I could stay up. The only ones that were dubbed as "awesome" in my father's opinion were guys like Don Rickles, George Carlin, Rodney Dangerfield and a few others. He loved good comedy.
Yep, one of the broadcast stations shows re runs of Johnny Carson at 9 p.m. now.
Johnny and all the comedians on The Tonight Show couldn't say those seven words or whatever on TV but they got away with stuff that would get them kicked to the curb, permanently, these days.

Yes, been there on the party line. You had “your” ring. Maybe two shorts or a long and a short. To call someone on your party line you had to call a special number then hang up, when your phone quit ringing, they had answered, then you picked the phone back up and talked.

Yes. There were 4 households on our party line.
I also remember seeing my first television and I remember you could get a telephone in any color you wanted as long as it was black, rotary dial.

I guess I'm not that old.
When we got a phone, you got a rotary dial in whatever color the AT&T guy had on the truck.
And the wires were screwed into the little metal box on the wall.
