I have a very modified Fiat 500 Sport that I take to Texas every year and run the foothills with other Fiat owners. There used to be a page like this for Fiat owners. This was a group of guys that really knew how to modify the cars and help each other out. The owner of the site sent out a similar email to all the member about not having the money to keep it going. He was thinking about charging around $25 a year to be a member. Everybody pretty much replied " We can get on Facebook and do the same thing for free" So the owner gave up and shut it down. I'm a member of several other Fiat webpages but, none of them compare to the one that shut down. I would have then and now pay $25 a year to have that webpage back. Anybody misty eyed yet?
I never knew you were such a sensitive guy..............big hug /big big hug

Just did the deed. Don't post much, usually only if I feel I can actually add something meaningful to a thread or have a question but as others have said this place is my go to for the latest news and information. Being mostly couch bound for the last few months recovering from an ordeal in the hospital OSA has been my life line to the real world. Thanks...

I think before you guys jump to sending in monies to Save OSA! Its time for a discussion. It would be nice to actually see the owner involved in this discussion. Since he doesn't actively participate here.

If the site is no longer about making money and add revenue is nonexistent. Then there is no need to worry about clicks to sell advertising. If that is the case. Then I suggest changes are made to the classifieds. We have way to many folks on this forum that just spam the living crap out of the classifieds and add nothing else to this site. I am not saying don't support the site. I am saying if we are going to fully support it then how about taking some input from those that do pony up.

Not only that but I would like to see some actual financial data. I don't just blindly give money to anything.

This site, and others like it, have been free to use for a long time, and when they become advertising vehicles like this one did awhile back...WE become the product. I'm not paying money for the privilege of being a product unless I see an accounting sheet.

Sorry if that sounds ******, but that's the truth. Lots of folks reaching for our pockets these days.

I suppose money actually could be tight. Nobody is going to pay to advertise and have their company associated with a good portion of the thread traffic here...except for maybe InfoWars, and they don't really need to advertise. That's another issue though.

I'm always happy to support the site . . . one suggestion @Okuma might be to see if you can add a link to any OSA merchandise/gear. I know I've purchased stuff off of Amazon, but some of the newer folks might not know about the items available.

Cafe Press or other similar merchandise shops where you can upload your own logo and sell items might also prove useful.

@Okuma ,
I received your message and I am ready to re-up but one statement really put me off. The fact the site is showing it's age and you need new software. I have been on many a forum and made many friends but none I have met in person until I joined here.
I have made some pretty good friends here and even found a long lost cousin. The site is easy to navigate, it is not hard to figure out and is not confusing in it's layout like other sites that "upgraded" themselves into oblivion. I would say just as I was becoming accustomed to the workings of a good forum site the owners changed the software into a monstrosity that was probably easier for them to manage but was confusing and hard to navigate with a lot of wasted space used by the avatars and separations between posts. In fact this one site is really hard to figure out when and where different posts stop and start. If you want me to I can PM you a link to an example of one I was very active in that I just can't stand the sight of anymore.

I'll bet there are others on here that have had the same experience with other sites.
Thanks for reading this

When I say "showing it's age" I'm really referring to how the software works with changing internet protocols and the variety of devices that people are using nowadays. I will try my best to keep the user experience as similar to as it is now as I can, that's part of why the upgrade expense is high, I pay someone to "skin" the site so it looks like the old site did but runs on the new software. The actual software is only about $200 but the modifications I make to it will run about $6,000. (I own two sites that use the same software and modifications so I can split the cost between them.)

I've gotten a few messages from people wanting to use paypal, unfortunately that is not an option right now. In 2019 paypal closed our account and seized all the money that was in it for "violating their terms of service" since we have gun-related material.

It's really getting difficult to run a gun-related site anymore, services are constantly being denied to us.

Folks could maybe send it directly to you via Apple Pay or something . . .
