I used to know a gunsmith in McAlester that could convert these over to a .256Win mag. Cartridge had the exact same base as the .357.with an endless supply of brass to neck down.
At first they were ripping the back of the cartridge off and his engineer buddy figured it out that the gas orfice in the blowback of the autoloading part had to be enlarged slightly.
Those were some bad boys he made and a blast to shoot and solved the problem of a rifle shooting a pistol speed cartridge. He is passed away now. Now that dude was a gunsmith.

Hands down the funnest weapon I have ever shot.

Interesting you’d say that. I had half a dozen Carbines over the years, but just could not warm up to them, preferring a Garand instead. As I get older though, the mild recoil would become more attractive ;)
