Anyone know if it is possible to register my 2015 Ram 2500 in OK. My registration in CA is due about May and will be approx $700. With our plan to move later in the summer I'd rather not register here. I have an address I can use. Or is a new/first time registration n.eeding an inspection? Please opine. Thanks fellas

When I was out there my buddy had all of his vehicles registered in OK. The address is the key. He had all of his timed so he could buy his tags when he was back here at Christmas.

ETA: I do seem to recall you have to have it here to swap the title over.
ETA2: Congrats on getting out of that **** hole!

No inspection. Been many years since I've had to do this, but seems like I had to have a utility bill in my name also.

When you register a vehicle from out of state, they require an inspection of the VIN to make sure the numbers match up with the title. That means the vehicle has to PHYSICALLY be here. I got all of mine inspected by the local tag agent. If I remember correctly, there was a $5 charge per vehicle. Of course, you have to have proof of liability insurance from an Oklahoma carrier. I think I had to have an Oklahoma driver's license before I could register the vehicles. That really hurt when I had to give up my Florida TrueID and get a regular OK license(since Oklahoma wasn't issuing them yet).

Inspection??? what is this you speak of?
Out of state vehicles require Vin inspection and a mileage statement, I can't remember if this is for all out of state vehicles, or just those that are 10 years old or newer. It is a quick inspection done at any tag agency.

Fair enough. I bought a car out of Florida ~8 years ago, it was fairly new and I don't remember them doing like that at the Tag agency but I've been drunk since then.

Here, but occasionally There.
Wife and I retired and started to travel. Since we stayed long term in both Colorado and Oregon, we established residence there. When we returned to Oklahoma in the Summer of 2018, we had to take our two vehicles and our 38 1/2-foot fifth wheel to the tag agency for the VIN inspection. Thankfully, there was a good sized parking lot across the street from the tag agency, so it wasn't that big of a deal to get the vehicles registered again in Oklahoma.

The Ford F450 was definitely 10 years old and the fifth wheel was 8 years old.

So, yeah...

...one has to have their vehicle there. But, other than the VIN inspection, it was all easy to do. No mechanical inspections are required in Oklahoma.
