Going to finish the season out tomorrow morning. I think every closing day I can think of we had blue bird skies and temps in the 50s.
Good luck MG. I might slip up to the lease and see what flys in, set some coon cuffs, pull cam cards, fill a feeder or two then toss a couple of crappie jigs. It’s that time of year again.

I went squirrel hunting today in Fouche Maline. Rained almost whole time. The duck hunters were out in full force today and it sounded like Cambodia during the Tet offensive. Stuff must have been flying in this miserable weather.

Two Beautiful Mallard drakes landed right in front of me about 30 yrds in a brushy cove. I watched them awhile and then flushed them up and instinctively pulled a bead on the back one. I had lead shot in for squirrel hunting and just let them go. Those two hit the middle of the river and i could hear morons shooting every 100yds all down the river as they passed. That is an 80- 90yds out shot and these idiots are shooting at them. I don't know what to think about some of these modern day hunters. Later on had two hen turkeys fly in and lit in some big post oaks right above me. They were sure fun to watch them looking around up there for me.

Only one gray squirrel in between the rain and let a few get away as last of the season they are pretty wild now. Not a very good success, but was an all around great day just to be out in spite of the weather and see all the different types of game I did today. I will be glad I went when I could about the dog days of August.
