AND...He is 100% correct ....unless you are a loyal democrat, believing in the green diversity fairy and the government will save me and my family & friends ....

He says ....The COLD facts of truth ....

"No one owes you or your family anything; nor is it the local governments responsibility to support you during trying times like this! Sink or swim, it’s your choice!" he wrote. "The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING!"

He hits home here....

"If you have no water you deal with out and think outside of the box to survive and supply water to your family," he added. "If you were sitting at home in the cold because you have no power and are sitting there waiting for someone to come rescue you because your lazy is direct result of your raising!"

.and a topping with a cherry..........

"Am I sorry that you have been dealing without electricity and water; yes! But I’ll be damned if I’m going to provide for anyone that is capable of doing it themselves!" Boyd continued in the post. "Bottom line, quit crying and looking for a handout! Get off your ass and take care of your own family!"

"I would never want to hurt the elderly or anyone that is in true need of help to be left to fend for themselves," the former mayor wrote. "I was only making the statement that those folks that are too lazy to get up and fend for themselves but are capable should not be dealt a handout.

I can understand the publics point of view to a point, if you live in a city or county that requires you to use their utilities i think that that municipality should go out of their way to make sure that you have it available for your use when you need it, thats why you have to pay their high rates for it you dont have a choice. And at these times when so many are unemployed they are barely getting by as it is so now they have to come up with more money to go out and buy stuff to survive and then turn around and pay the municipality for something they couldnt use at a higher rate than normal when it becomes available again. Yes i know there is exceptions because of bad weather but for companies to just ignore you just so they dont have to spend money for regular maintance is wrong. And yes to many people have become accustom to the luxaory of modern living. And i know i will get alot of heat over this post but so what it wont be the first or last so bring it on.

Well, the utility is responsible to get the product through the meter.

If your pipes are frozen in your house, not the utilities problem.

If you didn't get enough food to last a few days at home, not the City problem.

If you didn't think ahead enough to have a secondary heat source, whose fault is that ?

Your right it is the utility companies responsabilty to get it to the meter but if it isnt getting there and your pipes freezes whos fault is that people just cant go out and make electricity and gas to keep their pipes from freezing, i know people that has both electric and gas and both went down so what do you expect them to do build a fire in the middle of the floor and take a chance of burning the house down. Plus not everyone has the option of having their homes built with mulitle choices, there is alot that only rents and the landlords wont let you start knocking holes in the side of the house to install a wood stove or fireplace.

I have a total electric house, and a well. When the power goes out I lose everything, including the ability to heat the wellhouse.

I have 3 (three) portable generators. I purchased them over the course of several years. I can run auxiliary electric heat.
I realize that the gennie probably isn't an option for Apt dwellers, therefore;

I have a small propane heater also. It's portable. So is the fuel.
It's relatively inexpensive. So is the fuel.

So, your (specious) argument about knocking holes in walls for chimneys sounds ridiculous.

Any of this technology is available to anyone that can stop ordering delivery pizza for a week or two.

And, if the water is not flowing through the City pipes, one needn't worry about it freezing in the walls, does one ?
Too, if the meter isn't turning, it's not costing a dime.

BTW, I also have several 7 gallon jugs of water that I store for just this sort of emergency.
Those jugs are available at any Dept store for a few bucks.

IOW, your lack of foresight is not my emergency. People need to learn to take care of themselves.

They are supposed to be adults, not slaves or children.
