Thanks, all. I don't believe it is cell capable, or he'd have said so. He found it on Amazon ... not the cheapest and certainly not high dollar. I think he got it on sale for about $80.

I've looked at this brand before on Amazon. Tons of great reviews. Want to say there was like 25k reviews. With all electronics you can get a lemon from time to time. I believe it was an Amazon top choice to, so i'm willing to bet they will send him a new one or fix it. Starting this year I'm just gonna use the Walmart Tasco brand for regular cameras (if my other brands quit working). Really hard to beat for the price and the way I hunt. Only camera I will spend more than $40 on from now on will be cellular ones.

UPDATE: They wanted him to try a 'specific' battery ... Panasonic or Energizer. He did. Ran the Energizer Lithiums in it ... same result. Batteries dead in a week with two pics. THEN, they wanted him to tell them all the settings he set up for the camera. He did, although he also pointed out to them that the settings should not make one iota of difference. It should operate however he has it set up. He's waiting to hear from them again. He is being way more patient than I would. FYI - this vendor is a reseller on Amazon known as "lemon-us." Maybe the name should tell you something. Buyer Beware!

FWIW, if you're looking at something on Amazon, take a moment and run the URL for the product through FakeSpot ( https://www.fakespot.com/ ). It won't necessarily tell you whether or not the item itself is good, but it'll tell you how trustworthy the reviews are.

Thanks. I'll pass it along. He's much more tech savvy than I, so he may already know about it.

In the meantime, an update. This has been going on since August 3rd, and he accomplished all correspondence through Amazon. The vendor told him, 'you don't need to do that. Just reply directly to our emails.' No way. He wanted a trail for Amazon to see, just in case. Well, the vendor's latest request was for him to try a different card in the camera, which he had already done. He told them he was not buying one more item for this camera. He was filing a complaint with Amazon for their failure to replace a defective product. So, he filed the complaint, asking Amazon to review all the correspondence between them. Today, he gets this message from the vendor ...

“We’re very sorry you have had an issue with our product. Please contact us and we would be happy to do a refund or offer an exchange solution.”

OK. Whatever. He's been 'contacting them' since August 3rd. We'll see what happens.

I have been repeatedly been calling Stealthcam for customer service and no one is answering the phone. The wait has been 2 hours then the call is disconnected. I dont know if they have gone out of business or not. There is only 1 number to call. Grrrrr

I have purchased 2 Browning trailcams with slide out battery trays and the trays in both have broken, including a replacement tray that I bought. Will not buy any more trailcams with slide out battery trays

It sounds like your son just got a lemon. Even my cheapest cameras ($40)I typically get a few months out of the batteries.
I recently bought a couple Moultrie XV 7000 cell cams to put on my Oklahoma property since I live 14 hours away, and I even get about 2 months out of them with 8 double A batteries and several thousand pictures taken( mostly birds and grass blowing :-).
I got them on sale on Amazon for $99.00.
