Is it my luck or is it getting BAD out there?
Few weeks ago I had to get a new Credit Card because somebody decided to use my card to make an online TV purchase at a Meijer store in Michigan, then charged an uber ride too which I can only assume was to go pick it up.

Tonight I'm checking my primary debit card and notice 5 transactions for online orders at Chipotle in Newport Beach, CA. So I guess now I get to shut that one down and get a new one.

If you have had to do 2 that close together does that mean you have spyware or something on your phone or computer?

We use our credit card a lot. Had to get a new card couple months ago after Sams Club charges of 4 memberships showed up. Also had some other charges on it. Card comp sent new one overnight.New card # every 3-4 years. My DIL works for major bank in fraud, sees this stuff all day.

Yeah all of my issues have been the fraudster making online charges all while the card is under my asscheek.

As far as spywear... I have no idea. It's possible but my computer runs scandalous on the regular.

Had my card hacked while out of state on vacation. Guessing either a restaurant or gas station. Anyway, the bank did not hold me responsible for the charges. I only use cc for transactions, never a debit card.

I had cc fraud on a card that I had never used for any transaction. The bank rep told me that cards can be skimmed without ever having physical contact with the card.

As Dennis mentioned nobody is going after the people that commit fraud. The amount of money that lost to fraud is a drop in the bucket compared to the fees that are collected from merchants each time you make a purchase with a debit or credit card.

I think data breaches are to blame for a lot of the stolen card numbers and fraud. I suspect that the card information is stolen weeks or months before the actual fraud begins.

My funny card fraud story was 32 transactions made at a Dairy Queen in Minnesota on a Sunday morning. I have a feeling that someone at that DQ store was in on the deal or the person with my card data had a pretty convincing fake card with my data on it.

I’ve had to get a new debit card about 4 times over the last few years because of this. It’s a pain in the rear. I had an Uber on one of mine as well. I also had one for match.com. I told my bank that I have been married almost 20 years so that definitely wasn’t me. And I’ve never taken an Uber. It’s scary how easily criminals can get this info.

Had someone get into my Sam's club account, report a lost card and request a new card be sent to a California address. The way they did it was getting the password by hacking a site where I was stupid enough to use the same password. They just put it with my email address and started seeing if they could log on to any store CCs. Thankfully the bank called me to confirm and we were able to shut it down even before the Durd had received the new card.

Passwords are a pain but head the warnings about not reusing the same one on more than one web site.
