My debit card was hacked, and the question is who knows when? The bank told me it may have been hacked a year or so again and later on was sold on the dark web, then used. In my case it was hit with 5 purchase attempts in England and Germany, all within 8 minutes, and were apparently all internet based websites of items to be shipped. 3 of those attempts went through, 2 were declined.

It was one big giant pain in the ass for me.

You can set up to where you get text alerts for all purchases.
^^^ This is awesome. I can make a purchase with my Discover card and get a text alert before I even make it back to my car.
Can you do this with all cards?

Sounds like a good deal if they don't spam ya with offers and such.

As far as I know (unless it's changed) there is a $50 limit for your liability on a credit card. I don't believe that limit exists on a debit card, however I had a fraudulent charge on my debit card once and got it reversed, they just required me to file a police report and provide a case number.

I guess this will be an exercise in adulting.

I've never had these issues...and now all at once I do on both accounts. The difference between the two says alot too.
Discover reversed it without question and sent a new card.
BoA Debit card...they'll let me know in 60-90 days about their decision after investigation and they'll get me a card sometime in the next week basically.

I guess now I'll start going the CC route since my new debit card will have 0 internet existence and I guess I'll not use it anywhere. If it gets hacked again, is because I got hit with a remote reader or something.

“If someone makes unauthorized transactions with your debit card number, but your card is not lost, you are not liable for those transactions if you report them within 60 days of your statement being sent to you.”

I found out many years ago that BoA sucks a$$! I don't know why anyone would use them.

Good luck getting all of this straightened out.
