I won’t be blasting anyone in public. A misunderstanding or social faux pas doesn’t demand besmirching or grief. If it’s absolutely necessary to know my pm’s are open. I was clear and was offering full asking price and meeting ASAP. Not everything works out, if you are trying to sell and someone waves money in front of you, most people will take it. My loss.
I recently committed a faux pas with a member here. It was totally my fault. I misinterpreted an offer of a barrel for a rifle as an entire firearm and extended a second opportunity to the possible seller to buy the "rifle". Due to the low asking price I thought it was a beater rifle for a truck gun and was described as a "shooter". Upon meeting the member I was given the barrel, which was in like new condition, and sheepishly admitted to my assumption and mistake and apologized for taking up his time on my mistake.
Upon arriving at home I again posted a PM to the member apologizing. My point... defecation occurs.

I have stopped looking at the classifieds...its a joke.

+1

I didn't renew as a site supporter this year specifically due to the classifieds being such a **** show. It's extremely aparent that the owner only cares about site traffic and not at all about shielding its members from unscrupulous neckbeards and scammers.

Just so everyone knows I wasn’t saying we needed to make a pay to use system or even that we need to make a new system. Mainly just letting people know so existing members are cautious and new members get why people are so hesitant to work with the them.
Heck, I've been burned by established members. I rarely visit the classifieds typically deleting all of them as soon as I get online.

We do a lot of posting in this forum about defending the Second Amendment, and then a lot of complaining about other things. But, it seems that a great many of the things we complain about are folks exercising their rights as guaranteed in other sections of the Constitution. We argue against the requirements to wear masks, wear seatbelts, etc. We don't like being told to do, or not to do, anything.

But now we are demanding that the owner of this forum set rules that we want, ignoring that it is his right to manage the forum as he chooses. We want to limit access to the classified section to only certain members.

I don't like the actions of some new members, especially those that are only here to scam, but rethinking my own stance on this has brought me back to what we stand for in the beginning; support of the Constitution, all of it, not just what we like at any particular moment in time.

We don't like the pro athletics, now we don't like the Norman girls' basketball team, we don't like "Cheaper than Dirt". All for good reasons, but if we were to demand that they not be allowed to do the things that we dislike, we would be no better than those on the left that demand that we should not be allowed to do the things that we stand for.

The owner of this forum manages this like any of us would manage a business that we own, and it is his right to do so. Just as it it the right of any member to get their feathers ruffled and move on to another forum.

I choose to support the site for many reasons, mainly because of the people I've met, and the things I've learned from many members.

I agree, but as a lifetime supporter of the site, I wouldn't say anyone is "demanding" the site owner change anything, but nothing will change if feedback isn't given.

There is a reason why there are so many arguments about everything in the world, its because everything can be looked at from opposite sides. As I mentioned above I don't think anyone is demanding something change, and the argument can be made nothing should change because everyone can do what they want and if you don't want to deal with scammers and unreliable people don't use the classifieds section. The site has been this way for years so why change it now because some people had issues?

On the other hand you can look at it from the viewpoint as changing the site would allow it to continue as it has been for the last few years without a heavy presence of scammers, and if those new members don't like the increased restrictions they don't have to use the classifieds.

No decision is ever going to make everyone happy, and in my original post I wasn't asking for changes because I for one have the mentality everyone needs to take care of themselves, we don't need so much oversight in the world. I was simply relaying my experience and my solution for it, which is not dealing with people who don't have ratings or posts, which I think is the solution and can be managed on every users own individual basis without putting some overarching rule in place you have to have x number of posts to use it. Everyone can just look at the user reaching out to them and if they see no feedback and 4 posts, they can decide if they want to move forward, I for one will not anymore.

THIS. I haven't been on here nearly as long as many of the "established members". However, I was brought on by a well established member, who also took the time to learn me up on the proper ways of utilizing this forum and site and thanks to him I have been able to meet some really great people, and learn a lot!

Same song, 200th verse. The forum owner won’t do it. Post positive feedback for good transactions and negative for bad ones. Put the trolls on ignore and ignore the ridiculous pricing some people have like $800 Glock 19M’s. [emoji6]
