The guy had rocks thrown and he was maced...to me if they incapacitated him it was self defense to brandish. But looks like the cops didn't care in the blue state:

I believe in Oklahoma if you purposely damage a vehicle it can be a felony but not positive on that.I know a man who had a crazy ex wife that bashed his winshield in and she was charged with felony vandalism.

I'd think with all the beatings antifa has given in the streets a reasonable person would think that's what they're going to do to me.

But to answer the question, yes, the victim's response was justified, appropriate & restrained. From what I gathered from reading the article though, he intentionally entered into a dangerous, lawless area. Yes. He had to draw. Completely justified. But he will face crippling legal fees now.
