A family member just gave me a Bantam Curado 200 in the box that is dated from the late 90's. He said he tried it a few times and never could learn to use it. He swears I gave it to him as a gift which is ironic because back then, I had a lower model Shimano (still use it today) and the Curado was a nice model that I couldn't really afford at the time. So it definitely was my favorite reel for the price back then (no way I could get a Chronarch), but I can't imagine I gave it to him as a gift, but there is nobody else who would have that was into bait casters back then. So its like getting a new one I never got to enjoy back then!
Anyway, I have another Bass Pro Bionic blade from about the same era that was given to me a long time ago under similar circumstances by a friend who couldn't use bait caster. So now I finally have the perfect reel to go with it! I love the older stuff; this puppy was made in Japan...the new ones are made in Malaysia (maybe the higher end are still Japan?). I try hard to avoid chinese when there is a choice...I noticed the Daiwas were also not made in china but I've been so loyal to Shimano (spinning reels too), that I don't have the need to buy a Daiwa just to compare...seems to be ford vs chevy between those two?
It is strung with new mono from 20yrs ago...I assume I'll have to re-string it?
