The vast majority of the population of the country lives in the lower 10% of the island, the volcano is on the north. If it were to get bad enough to have to evacuate Kingstown it would be a major ordeal - something like 100,000+ people.

They should be fine, they're getting some ash rain is all. There are many many hills and mountains between the volcano and the major population center. The only danger they would ever be in is if there were a major kaboom explosion like Krakatoa or Mount St. Helens - and there aren't any predictions of anything like that.
