Google says it holds 11.2qts, and you said "I installed it the next morning drained the remainder of tranny fluid from the pan drain hole and saw no metal shavings. Filled the 5 quarts back up and gave it a go."

Something doesn't sound right with the numbers adding up to 11qts. Maybe I'm misreading what you're saying?

Nope you are correct, it does hold 11 quarts, however only 5- 5.5 of it is recoverable from the drain plug. To get the full 11 out you have to drop the pan, which I'm not equiped to do.

So when you pulled the drain plug nothing or very little came out or 5qts drained out?

I would try to get the truck in for a tranny service. If dropping $400 on a detailed look over of the tranny and a flush/full fixes it, you’ll be glad you did. If it doesn’t, you don’t be out of too much cash. Sounds like you have air in the valve body or not enough fluid to be honest. Also if you blew all your tranny oil out you may have fried your pump or valve body, which would be cheaper to replace than the whole transmission.

It’s quite a drive from Wagoner, but you might give M and M performance in Norman a call. They do automotive work, it’s also a DIY shop, and they offer DIY bay rentals with or without tool rentals and with/without paid help/instruction. Great guys, I’m acquaintances with one of the owners. They’re likely more flexible than most shops.
