What do you recomment for the best trading platform for new investors? Don't want big fees and will not be using every day but want something that is easy to use and has good research capabilities. Want to use for some basic trades and my Son want to put a bit of money in some stocks just to see what happens. Fun money type of trades so his losses, if any, are not too painful. Seems Fidelity and TD Ameritrade are highly recommended. What say you.

TDAMERITRADE is the base, Think or swim is the traders paradise (trade almost anything).
I prefer Schwab. Pretty easy to understand. Chart layout is easy on the eyes.
Most of the sites have a play account you can mess with before funding.
Many new ones out there, app based and free. Remember if you ain't paying for the product, you are the product.

I retired from TD Ameritrade 9 years ago (PCS Broker) and I still have a couple of trading accounts with them...its a very easy to use platform and there is always someone at their 800#... 24-7-365 to help with any questions a new trader might have. For more advanced traders they have the Think or Swim platform with a 24-7-365 help desk. I don't think you can go wrong with them.

And best of all its all free if you trade online instead of using a broker....
