When I first started looking into reloading a couple years ago, a buddy of mine grabbed some CCI BR2 and Federal Magnums by mistake. Instead of taking them back, he gave them to me (SCORE!). So, I have 200 BR2 and 200 Magnums, and since we’re on the subject, I’ll ask about Match Grade too, but I’ve no clue of all of their intended situational uses vs. Standard primers. Of course I can research them, but I know most of you have experience with them. Sure I know they all have different applications or there would only be Standard primers made.

Are these something I can use for range fun, siting scopes, hunting even? Are they maybe make better fit with different calibers, projectile types and weights, and powders? I’ll also ask about TulAmmo primers. Obviously I want to utilize them so I wanted to ask my expert buddies here since I’m a rookie, and only have about 2000 rounds loaded under my belt.

First, the TulAmmo primers - use them. I've used almost all of the Eastern European made primers, never had any troubles at all with any of them. When the $20/1000 East European primers hit Cabelas, I wish I had purchased many more thousands than I did. Not that I'm out of primers, or even short of primers, but $20/1000.....

As for the Match and BR primers. Well, I've never noticed any difference, but it could very well be because I'm a mediocre shot at best.
Supposedly the Match/BR primers are more consistent. They are weight matched, which should give a more consistent flame.

The Magnum primers are different from non-magnum. They are meant for large charges of hard to ignite powders - such as spherical powders in a 30-378 Weatherby Mag loaded with ball powder. Go ahead and use them in your range fodder, but don't get anywhere near max loads when using them, unless the data calls for those particular primers.

The Mag primers could be used to trade to someone that needs them.

I can’t speak for the magnum primers but the CCI BR200’s are what I use in all my rifles. Years ago when I first started I think I tried different brands of primers but these worked really well in my hand loads.
