Random gun related stuff from today.

Loaded 357 magnum with 158g FMJ Bullets and win296, in three steps. Published max charge is 16.7g so I started at 15.6g then 16.0g and last step was 16.5g. I will shoot them over the chrono next week and look for accuracy, consistency, and over pressure signs.

I shot some of these out of a S&W 686-4” loaded at 15.4g last week and got 1100 FPS and was surprised by the recoil and muzzle flash. These new hotter versions should be interesting... I have about 20 of each.

Got most of my muzzleloader parts in and a tube of Bore Butter. Enough to try it out after a 13yr hiatus. Discontinued model and hard to find stuff. Broke the rib off years ago trying to get the breech plug out that involved a stuck ball with no powder behind it, my pot head hunting buddy, a deer fawn bleater call and about a 600lb black bear sizing me up at 25paces. But that's another story.
I got the ramrod holder screw, front screw and found a sling swivel set that had one thimble screw. So now it gets a sling next I guess. I got the sping I lost for the front sight to replace the one from ball point pen I made. Waste of money it looked exactly like the pen spring I made. Still looking for one thimble screw and a new sight elevation screw. So glad to have this back as it is a tack driver.
Took it to the range and had an absolute blast today with this thing and it's still got it. Shot a couple of Maxiballs touching. It used to like round balls but I didn't get any of those touching today. Probably me.

Some of The funnest hunts I have ever been on in my entire life were using this thing when we used to round up about 6-7 high school boys with fresh legs and drop them off to send them down from the top of Kiamichi Mt. Some of the older guys climbed halfway up from the bottoms and manned the ridges. Laugh a minute with those young-uns. Smoke poles, clouds of Smoke, spit patches and Punkin Balls, YEE HAW, get them doggies moving Rawhide. Ha.

So glad to have my New Englander back.
