Your grandfather was a man of good taste....you're lucky to have inherited his collection and its great that you are going to keep the collection in the family........KUDOS....!!!!

That is some beautiful stuff.
I inherited a collection of 88 rifles and shotguns myself, I tried to hang on a few years but it was just to much to maintain and clean. I sold way down to just the ones I personally used or that had some meaning. I let some amazing stuff go. That was a twice a year chore that covered days. It still takes me a while on just what I kept,. Funny, I didn't get nary a pistol like you did but I can't complain.

I've found that if I keep them all indoors, clean and stored in gun stocks with desiccant packs, I haven't had much issue thus far. I've brought them all out and inspected them a few times over the years, but this will be the first major inspection for well over 18 months. I've never had an issue with anything thus far though. There are some other Colts and Smiths, and one Remington that are MUCH older than what I posted pictures of. A few of those really show their age, but I haven't done anything to remove any finish degradation. My main goal was to stop further issues, which treated gun socks, desiccant packs, and indoor storage appear to have done thus far.
I'm actually going to be calling a friend of mine who manages a local bank. I'd like to look into storing most, if not all, of the inherited collection in some sort of safety deposit box fashion. What options are there for offsite storage for gun collections? Anyone know of any? And no, your house doesn't count!

Thanks. I'll look into them. Worst case scenario is I can get them all my brother in Alabama. He's remote on plenty of land and storage space. I'd probably have to buy the safe(s) though. It might be worth looking into if I cannot find somewhere locally.
