I bet they have support groups out there somewhere if you need help.
LOL ---- yeah, but CPA's are expensive. Most everytime I've bought something there I've got it cheap, and then sold high. It's been good for me and allowed me to get many upgraded things that I probably wouldn't have paid cash for. If you're willing to sift through the heap, in normal times you'll find much much better deals there than here in our classifieds. While that is not to say that you can't find great deals here, but generally when I find a good one there it beats OSA out of the water.

I did an Armslist trade that didn't quite go as planned. Had a shotty for sale that wasn't moving so I opened it to trades and a guy hit me with a Charter Arms Pitbull in 44SPL+ ammo and some cash. I've been apparently on a wheel gun kick and didn't have anything with "44" in the name so I said what the heck.

At the meet up it seemed in good (but desperately needing a cleaning) condition, and a quick check seemed like it was in order. Until I got home and started playing, and the hammer was not staying cocked in single action. Did a full disassembly and cleaning, and it seems like the little shelf where the hammer catches the trigger to stop at SA is either worn or filed, because you can feel it "catch" but then it just immediately releases.

/sigh/

I've done a whole lot of deals on Armslist and had so far only had one real bad experience. This isn't the worst out there but definitely disappoints me. I'll call Charter tomorrow and see what my options are.... supposedly they have a lifetime warranty on most of their modern stuff, and if not the trigger/hammer are only like 50 bucks plus shipping.

I traded in my favor on this deal so it won't break the bank if I have to pay out but dang.

Well, if you decide you dont like it, I am a wheel gun guy, and would take a vintage Pitbull in 44

Sooooo update ----

Got the parts from Charter in today. And about 15 minutes later have a nicely functioning pistol again. At least as far as I can test without ammo. Swapped in the new "regular" hammer and it solved all the issues with DA and SA both working as expected. The DAO hammer looked to be good to go as well, but I didn't put that one in at the moment and will just hold it. The only thing that I will say I needed to do is that the side of the hammer seemed a little rough and didn't move as freely as I wanted so I polished both side with some 220/400 on a block of reference granite just enough to smooth it just a bit and it positively glides now.

So all things considered it was about 35 bucks worth of parts that I needed, and then the other 50 I'll just count as spending extra on "repair insurance". Not a bad option to have the DAO hammer though --- if this became a regular carry, I'd probably swap that in.
