Bought some Leadslingers Fighting spirit Rye whiskey................ Really want to like it but this stuff is to sweet , no pepper and can't even be made into an Old Fashion!! Oh well, all is not lost I picked up a bottle of Stolichnaya 100 proof and the vodka tonic is hitting the spot!! :sunbath::cool:

Well I lied , I made an old fashion but it sucked so I dumped it down the drain!! I know 'abuse ' but it was nasty and I am not that poor lol!!
As much as I wanted to try and support Leadslinger I read too many bad reviews about all their whiskey offerings to spend any of my tiny liquor budget on them.

Pour something else over it. Call it ‘a blend’ it’ll be trendy before you know it.
May try it with sweet vermouth to see if I can cover the yuck!
This is what I do with bourbon that I don't like well enough to drink neat...I haven't tried it with rye but there shouldn't be much of a difference...

I pour it directly over coffee grounds using my Mr. Coffee, with it turned off of course.

I use the same amount of coffee as I would if I was making a full pot. If you like coffee it makes a pretty good infused sipping whiskey.

I hate coffee, wife loves it, this solution is interesting/ingenuity,. I am not keen on anything mixed, I used Arizona Arnold Palmer with the Leadslinger and that was ok though.

I used to try all kinds of things to make bad bourbon drinkable.

I even made some bacon bourbon and some smoked brisket bourbon. Both of them turned out pretty well but the coffee infusion was the easiest and the best tasting to me.

I have a $10 bottle of bourbon that was given to me recently that is okay neat but it's just not my thing so I will probably end up making coffee whiskey with it.
