FYI folks, there is a shortage on anything with a small engine, push and riding mowers, string trimmers, tillers, pressure washers etc. They trickle every now and then.

I have been told its due to several things, shortages in raw materials to labor all related to covid of course.

Shits getting old fast.

Had to replace the starter on my old Cub Cadet again . . . and it's time to yank the deck off and check the pins and cables that raise/lower it. Might as well replace the blades too. I'm sure glad I wait until it hits the 90s to do this sort of thing.

what’s it cost to get some 2-4-D and Roundup and just kill your lawn off. Then you don’t have to pay anyone to mow. Cost savings, brother.

Salt is cheaper... :D

Some of you may remember the days at Crossroads Mall in Okc when the poll takers would meet you at the doors when you came in. I stopped to talk to this one cute gal and the subject of her poll was lawn care products.

She asked about what name brand products of hoses, pesticides, seeds and other products. I could care less. I just wanted to talk to her for a few minutes. When she asked her last question about fertilizer, I told her that I could care less. I didn’t want my grass to grow. If I had my way, I’d lay a cement slab and paint it green and be done with it.

She said thanks and as she was walking away she was erasing every comment on her clipboard we had discussed.

The older I got the more I have learned to appreciate the cactus and white rocks look.

Xeriscape. It's something I wish would catch on here since it uses tons less water and can look just as nice.

Sounds about like my truck. Good luck, man.

My advice for mowers is the same are vehicles. I had a cub cadet LTX1050 for 10 years, maintained it, it was well cared for. 2019 it started to give me trouble, Belts pulleys etc. I rebuilt the deck though should be good to go, nope 2020 that damn mower decided to go to hell. Everytime I went to mow it was something. Finale hit came when it threw the deck belt, WTH? that thing was shredded, I saved the old belt installed it and took off, then it stared to make a grinding sound, then the deck died. I thought the PTO had died, nope I look behind me and there in the yard was half a spindle with the blade attached.
Screw it I picked it up, drove up to the back of the house parked and went and bought a new mower LOL. I was done fighting it, sold the old one to a neighbor for $400 who wanted the engine, a Kawasaki.

When they start giving you fits, time to ditch.

Did it shut off like you turned the ignition off or did it sputter out? If I quit suddenly, it’s probably a safety switch. Either seat or PTO switch. The seat is easy to bypass with a jumper wire
